Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU/PICU position at a Level 1 trauma center requiring at least 2 years of specialized NICU/PICU experience.

Details

  • Level 4 NICU/PICU unit within a 394+ bed acute care facility with Level 1 trauma designation
  • Patient population includes NICU, PICU, and potentially adult patients
  • Level 4 NICU includes high-frequency ventilation (Jet & HFOV), nitric oxide, high-risk deliveries, and gestational ages 22 weeks and above
  • Experience with ventilator management down to micro preemies required
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Rotating 8- and 12-hour day/night shifts
  • Every other weekend required, with consideration for straight weekend or straight night status
  • Holiday coverage required
  • Works as part of a team with charge RTs and 6-14 other RTs per shift, 2-4 NICU RTs and 1-3 Peds/PICU RTs per shift
  • Opportunity to pick up extra shifts
  • Potential to train and float to other campus locations within the health system

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent respiratory therapist experience
  • RRT (NBRC) required, CRT (NBRC) considered
  • BLS (AHA), NRP, and PALS (AHA) certifications required
  • ACLS preferred
  • Experience with NICU and/or PICU patient population required; adult experience also beneficial
  • State license required if applicable
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include respiratory assessments and protocols, arterial punctures and blood gas analysis, ventilator and NIV therapy management, medication delivery, airway clearance, assisting with intubations/extubations, tracheostomy changes and decannulation, emergency response team participation, ICU rounds, and intrahospital patient transport
  • Utilizes specialized equipment including Hamilton G5 & C1, V60, Airvo, Philips CoughAssist, Synclara Cough Device, Volara, Vest, IPV, ResMed AutoPAPs, Radiometer ABL90 Flex, EPOC POC device, Aerogen, Nitric Oxide, 3100 A & B HFOV, Bunnell HFJV, Infant Flow SiPAP, Bubble CPAP, Sentec TCM, NeoPuff, and home ventilators (Trilogy, Astral, Vivo)
  • Orientation includes lab orientation with RT education staff and preceptor shifts with unit RTs
  • Scrub requirements: Steel Gray for Peds/PICU or blue hospital-provided scrubs for NICU
  • All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
  • Candidates must disclose any previous employment with this health system, which may affect eligibility
  • Local candidates within 80 miles may be considered at a reduced rate
