Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring a WA or compact RN license and 2+ years of specialty experience.

Details

  • Acute care ICU/PCU unit with 82 critical care beds (48 ICU, 34 PCU) across 3 floors
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 in PCU
  • All critical care diagnoses with ICU-level drips and ventilator management
  • PCU drips limited to cardizem, nitro, insulin, and heparin, no pressors or vents in PCU
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • 12-hour shifts, days (7a-7p), EOW
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday for days)
  • Holiday rotation required alongside permanent staff
  • Charge nurse and 2 nurse aides per floor
  • Tele/monitor techs available in PCU only
  • 24/7 RT, pharmacy, and IV team support
  • Dayshift hospitalist/intensivist on-site, nights supported via virtual ICU and in-house ARNP
  • Floating required between ICU and PCU, and potentially throughout Region Two facilities (St. Clare Hospital - Lakewood, WA; St. Elizabeth Hospital - Enumclaw, WA; St Joseph Medical Center - Tacoma, WA)

Requirements

  • Active WA or Compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • BSN not required
  • IABP or CRRT experience not required unless previously performed
  • Strong Med Surg RN background preferred
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU/PCU environment across multiple floors
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including hospitalists, intensivists, surgery residents, RT, pharmacy, and IV team
  • Floor-specific orientation includes up to 1 week with an educator, minimum of 2 shifts
  • No specific scrub color requirements
  • First-time travelers may be considered
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year

Great schedule, got sent home early a lot, living in Tacoma is easy, commuting to work is a breeze, parking is free in the parking garage
