Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Acute care setting in a Medical ICU, part of an 82-bed critical care unit spanning 3 floors (48 ICU, 34 PCU)
  • Primarily works PCU with required floating to ICU
  • Patient ratios: ICU 1:1 or 1:2, PCU 1:3
  • All critical care diagnoses, with all ICU-level drips in ICU and cardizem, nitro, insulin, and heparin drips in PCU (no pressors in PCU)
  • Ventilator management required in ICU; no vents in PCU
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, with every other weekend (Friday and Saturday nights)
  • Floating required between all ICU and PCU units, and potentially throughout Region Two facilities (St. Clare Hospital – Lakewood, St. Elizabeth Hospital – Enumclaw, St Joseph Medical Center – Tacoma)
  • Charge nurse present on each floor along with 2 nurse aides per floor
  • Tele/monitor techs available only in PCU
  • 24/7 respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and IV team support
  • Dayshift hospitalist/intensivist on site; nightshift coverage via virtual ICU and an on-site ARNP for procedures

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
  • Strong Med Surg RN experience preferred
  • IABP or CRRT experience not required unless previously performed by the candidate
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across ICU and PCU levels, managing all critical care diagnoses
  • Participate in floor-specific orientation, planned for up to 1 week with an educator (minimum of 2 shifts)
  • No scrub color requirements
  • Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis with permanent staff
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable

Great schedule, got sent home early a lot, living in Tacoma is easy, commuting to work is a breeze, parking is free in the parking garage
