Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down/Telemetry position requiring Epic proficiency and OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Step down unit caring for cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and CVA patient populations
  • Targeted patient ratios of 1:4, with possible increases up to 1:5-6
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
  • 13- or 18-week contract options available
  • Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
  • Floating may occur across main, south, and north campus locations within 15 miles
  • Travelers are typically first to float at facility discretion

Requirements

  • Active OH RN license or compact license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; IV Start preferred
  • Minimum 1.5 years of relevant nursing experience, with Level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred
  • Experience with stable chronic ventilators required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips preferred (titration not required)
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and PICC line management
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry monitoring and stepdown-level nursing care for cardiac, neuro, and CVA patients
  • Participate in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team activities
  • Perform wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE protocols as needed
  • Manage patients with renal, endocrine, and gastrointestinal conditions including insulin protocols and feeding tube care
  • Lab work and EKG/dysrhythmia exam must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Up to 24 hours of orientation modules are billable
  • Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, to be requested at time of submission
  • Local candidates are not accepted; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Any past PERM/PRN employee of the health system must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler, pending facility rehire approval
  • Travel experience is not required; first-time travelers may be considered
