Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a 16-bed ED Observation Unit requiring Trauma Level I experience and CT/compact RN licensure.

Details

  • 16-bed ED Observation Unit, a separate location from the Main ED providing non-admitted observation level of care
  • Patient ratios average 1:6 on both days and nights
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • Open to accommodating block schedules
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic EMR used, experience preferred
  • Large Level I Trauma Center, Academic Medical Center setting

Requirements

  • Active or pending CT/compact RN license accepted
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC
  • Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC, NIHSS, PALS
  • 2 years of ED experience required; 1.5 years accepted if from a Level I Trauma Center or with travel experience
  • Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skills in managing psychiatric emergencies, IV therapy, respiratory care, cardiac monitoring, and ortho trauma preferred
  • 1 reference required for consideration
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only

Additional Information

  • Care for a general adult/pediatric ED population including trauma, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, and cardiac emergencies
  • Candidates not meeting Trauma Level I ED experience requirements may be placed at the Observation Unit location, with potential to move to other campus EDs after successful contracts
  • Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
  • RTO requests greater than 7 days require manager approval
  • First-time travelers are not accepted unless they have Epic experience
  • Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible to return as a traveler
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
