Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift acute care position requiring 2+ years of experience and a CO/compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele 4W Cardiac unit of an acute care hospital
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on day shift and 1:5 on night shift
• Common diagnoses include CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, GI bleeding, and acute renal failure
• Experience with cardiac drips and post cath lab patients required
• RNs titrate drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• Tele techs monitor patients 24/7 and RNs co-sign strips
• Uses CPAP, HFNC, and NRB respiratory equipment
• Charge nurse takes an assignment and nurse aides support the unit at a ratio of approximately 10-12 patients
• EPIC EMR used
• Night shift schedule with self-scheduling and block scheduling options
• Required to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• May float into ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, or MS-Tele units, with potential to float within the broader hospital zone in extreme need situations
• On-call or standby requirements determined by the nurse manager

Requirements

• Active CO or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with cardiac drips and post cath lab care required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac telemetry/med-surg unit, including drip titration and strip co-signing
• Participate in a week of orientation with in-state presence required, though first-day modules may be remote
• Caribbean blue scrubs required for RNs at this facility
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
