Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level III trauma center requiring 2+ years of ER experience and multiple specialty certifications.
Details
- 13-week assignment in a 54-bed Level III Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center Emergency Department
- Treats 75+ patients per day with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Fast Track and separate Triage area available for travelers
- Separate ER holding area and Psych/seclusion rooms on unit
- 24/7 in-house Security and Respiratory Therapy coverage, including vent, CPAP, BiPap, and High Flow management
- On-site X-Ray and CT with transport available
- Both Phlebotomy and RN staff perform lab draws
- Charting completed in EPIC
- Evening and night shifts available, 1p-1a or 3p-3a, 12-hour shifts
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling options offered
- Required to work every other weekend or equivalent (6-9 shifts within a 6-week period)
- Minimum of six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required
- Call/standby and floating requirements determined by Nurse Manager
- May float within Zone 1 in cases of extreme need
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
- Manages cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, sedation, and analgesia drips
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA for BLS/ACLS)
- BSN not required for this position
- Must provide a copy of driver's license for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity Emergency Department setting
- Charge nurse role available on unit and may take patient assignments
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Unit-specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
- Candidates should plan to be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are remote
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel positioning
- Subject to a float radius policy requiring availability to float within the hired zone
- Candidates with direct employment history at CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities within the past year are not eligible
- Candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms remain eligible for consideration
