Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring a CO or compact RN license and 2+ years of ED experience in a Level III trauma center.
Details
- 13-week assignment in a Level III Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center Emergency Department
- 54-bed unit with Fast Track, separate Triage area, and dedicated Psych/seclusion rooms
- Treats 75+ patients per day with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
- Manages cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, and sedation/analgesia drips
- 24/7 in-house Respiratory Therapy supports vents, CPAP, BiPap, and High Flow equipment
- On-site X-ray and CT with transport capability
- Both RN and Phlebotomy staff perform lab draws
- Night shift schedule with every other weekend or equivalent (6-9 shifts within a 6-week period)
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling options available
- Possible floating within Zone 1 during extreme need
- Uses EPIC EMR system
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC or PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
- Prior Level III trauma Emergency Department experience preferred
- BSN not required
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
Additional Information
- Charge nurse carries a patient assignment
- Security staff present in-house 24/7 within the ER
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy coverage for ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
- Weekend coverage expected: minimum six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required
- Call or standby requirements determined by Nurse Manager
- Floating requirements determined by Nurse Manager
- Navy blue scrub color required
- Unit-specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
- Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year
- Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are remote
