Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a 13-week assignment requiring a CO or compact RN license and at least 2 years of emergency department experience.
Details
- Acute care Emergency Department at a Level III trauma center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with 54 beds/trauma bays
- Treats 75+ patients daily with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Fast Track and separate triage area with traveler participation required
- Separate ER holding area and dedicated psych/seclusion rooms
- 24/7 in-house security stationed in the ER
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
- Manages cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, and sedation/analgesia drips
- RT staff available 24/7 for ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
- Unit utilizes vents, CPAP, BiPap, and high flow equipment
- On-site X-ray and CT with transport capability
- Both phlebotomy and RNs perform lab draws
- Charge nurse takes patient assignments
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Day shift schedule with every other weekend or equivalent 6-9 shifts within a 6-week period
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
- Potential float to Zone 1 in cases of extreme need
- Floating and call/standby requirements determined by nurse manager
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
- BSN not required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), ENPC or PALS, NIHSS, NRP, and TNCC
- Must submit copy of driver's license
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Deliver direct patient care in a high-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department setting
- Weekend requirement of a minimum six shifts per six-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Orientation includes 12 hours with unit/department specifics assigned during orientation week
- Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week even if initial modules are remote
- Subject to a float radius policy where travelers must float within their assigned zone and are responsible for securing housing accordingly
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past year; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
