Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring a CO or compact RN license and 2+ years of acute care nursing experience.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 37 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4/5 on days and 1:5/6 on nights
• Patient population includes CHF, pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, and general Med Surg cases
• Moderate oxygen needs with respiratory equipment in use
• Philips telemetry monitoring, centrally monitored off the unit
• 12-hour day shifts
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Minimum of six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating required to other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele, with possible float within zone 3 for extreme need
• Nurse aide ratio of 1:12
• No charge nurse assignment on this unit
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active CO or Compact (NLC) RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• Competency in reading telemetry strips required
• Must not titrate drips
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide acute Med/Surg nursing care to a diverse patient population
• Scrub color is navy blue
• Unit/department-specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
• Clinicians should plan to be in-state for orientation week even if initial modules are remote
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
• Float Radius Policy applies, requiring travelers to float within their assigned zone and secure housing accordingly
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
