Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level I trauma teaching hospital requiring strong tele, ventilator, and dysrhythmia management skills.
Details
- Work in the ICU (7MB MCICU Med/CORICU) at a Level I trauma teaching hospital
- Patient population is 70% medical (sepsis, PNA, ARDS, organ failure, DKA) and 30% cardiology (heart failure, post arrest, arrhythmias)
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
- Patient ratios are 1:2 days and 1:3 nights
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within scope to other ICU units and boarder areas
- Uses Epic for charting and Pyxis for medication administration
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must pass a tele dysrhythmia interpretation and management exam
- Minimum 2-3 years of solid MICU experience required
- Level I and Level II trauma experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Required skills: ventilator management, telemetry, and conscious sedation
- Required skills: IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Required skills: assisting with chest tube insertion/removal and care of ventilated patients
- Required skills: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Required skills: CVVHD/CRRT and IV insulin protocols
- Required skills: cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and care of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure patients
- Preferred skills: IV starts, ICP monitoring, PA lines/Swan Ganz, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, Impella, and IABP
- Epic charting experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to a mixed medical and cardiac ICU population
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
- Any solid color scrubs accepted; facility also provides light blue scrubs for unit use
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
- Minimal RTO accommodated, with no time off permitted during the first two weeks or orientation
- Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers may be considered if they have strong relevant experience
