Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN with Postpartum and Level 1 Nursery experience for a night shift travel contract at a Level I trauma teaching hospital.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
- Level 1 Nursery and Postpartum care settings
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-7:15)
- Every other weekend and holiday required
- Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations, must be able to work all 7 days
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required (or must apply within 24 hours of offer)
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Postpartum and Level 1 Nursery experience required
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- Level I Trauma hospital experience required
- Level II Trauma hospital experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, and maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
- Experienced in medication administration including antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, heparin, insulin drips, and Magnesium Sulfate therapy
- Experienced in Pitocin (oxytocin) administration
- Skilled in newborn care including circumcision assistance, cord care, discharge teaching, infant identification, metabolic screening, and newborn assessment
- Experienced in postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care, breastfeeding instruction, and couplet care
- Experienced in postpartum care of patients with cesarean section, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Skilled in pain management including opioids, pain assessment, post-epidural management, and PCA use
- Experienced in antepartum care including reflex checks, edema assessment, and clonus
- Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, and vaccine administration
- Experienced in care of newborns with large for gestational age, low birth weight, and newborn hypoglycemia
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
- Candidates with prior disciplinary action on their nursing license will not be considered
Additional Information
- First-time travelers may be considered for this role
- Must complete a Pass/Fail Telemetry test during orientation with an 80% passing score and only one attempt allowed; failure results in cancellation from the assignment
- Must complete a Pass/Fail Medication exam during orientation
- Additional pre-start and orientation modules required, including annual completion
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 75-mile radius
- RN candidates must reside within a 200-mile radius of the facility
- Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system before reapplying
- Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
