Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level I Trauma Center requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and CT or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in a Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department with a general adult/pediatric patient population
- Average patient ratios of 1:6 on both day and night shifts
- Day shift (4x12 hours, 11:00-23:00) or evening shift (4x12 hours, 15:00-03:00) schedules available
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Cross-training and floating to other campuses and ED observation units required within scope
- Travelers are assigned to one campus with possible rotation to other campuses and ED observation
- Travelers do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
- NIHSS, PALS, ENPC, and CPI certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required; 1.5 years considered for candidates from a Level I Trauma Center or with travel experience
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Level II Trauma Center, teaching hospital, and community hospital experience preferred
- Experience with patient ratios of 1:5-6 required
- Epic charting experience preferred, especially for candidates from facilities with 500+ beds, inner-city/urban locations, or EDs larger than 60 beds
- Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, and phlebotomy required
- Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, and intubation required
- Experience managing emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics required
- Neurological care experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, and spinal cord injury required
- Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and 12-lead EKG acquisition required
- Experience managing psychiatric patients, including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior required
- Shock/trauma experience including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations required
- Orthopedic splinting and ortho trauma management skills required
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care across a wide range of trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and psychiatric cases
- Participate in STEMI and stroke certified facility protocols
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID-19 vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemptions
- Contracts range from 13 to 26 weeks with possible extension
- Open to block scheduling arrangements
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require manager approval
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Previous permanent staff must have a 2-year gap before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
- Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
