Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN - Critical Care Float for a quaternary-care teaching hospital, requiring NJ or compact licensure and at least 1.5 years of critical care experience.
Details
- Combined ICU and CCU unit within a critical care float role
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
- Patient ratios of 1:1-3 in critical care and 1:4 if floated to stepdown, varying by census and acuity
- Required to float within skillset to ICU/CCU, CTICU, Step Down units, and ED Holding for ICU patients awaiting beds
- Every other weekend requirement
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- EPIC charting system used
Requirements
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Minimum 1.5 years of critical care experience required
- Experience with arterial line management, starting/maintaining IVs, and phlebotomy required
- Experience caring for ventilated patients and interpreting ABGs required
- Experience with post cardiac surgery care (not directly from OR) and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Stroke CEUs preferred
- Swan-Ganz catheter experience highly preferred
- Experience with or exposure to IABP, Impella, and VAD highly preferred
- CTICU or medical cardiology experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
Additional Information
- Work within a 653-bed quaternary-care regional teaching hospital with a large heart transplant program and Structural Heart and Valve Center
- Must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- Navy blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Former RWJBarnabas Health employees (full-time or PRN) must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
