Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float position requiring active NJ/Compact license and at least 1.5 years of critical care experience.
Details
- Combined ICU/CCU unit within a quaternary-care teaching hospital
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Critical care ratios of 1:1-3, or 1:4 if floated to stepdown
- Required to work every other weekend
- Float requirement includes ICU/CCU, CTICU, Step Down units, and ED Holding for ICU patients awaiting beds
- EPIC charting experience required
- Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
Requirements
- Active NJ or Compact RN license
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Minimum 1.5 years of critical care experience required
- Experience with arterial line management, starting/maintaining IVs, and phlebotomy
- Experience caring for ventilated patients and interpreting ABGs
- Experience with post cardiac surgery patients (not directly from OR)
- Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias
- EPIC charting experience required
- Swan-Ganz catheter experience highly preferred
- Experience with or exposure to IABP, Impella, and VAD highly preferred
- CTICU or medical cardiology experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing within a combined ICU/CCU setting at a quaternary-care regional teaching hospital
- Facility is home to one of the nation's largest heart transplant programs and a Structural Heart and Valve Center performing complex procedures including TAVR
- Must float within skillset to ICU/CCU, CTICU, Step Down units, and ED Holding as needed
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Former RWJBarnabas Health employees (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
