Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Epic charting experience and a NY RN license in hand.

Details

• Work in a combined adult/pediatric Emergency Department at a Magnet-recognized, Level I teaching hospital
• Patient ratios of 1:5 with adult and geriatric populations presenting all emergency diagnoses
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7p-7a
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday coverage required, if needed
• Floating required within skillset
• Uses Epic EMR
• Specialized equipment includes Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment

Requirements

• Active NY Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not a Compact state)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS and TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with IV vasopressors and continuous IV sedation
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
• Experience with CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI
• Cardiac monitoring experience including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Experience with emergency care for gunshot wounds and ortho trauma
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and triage
• Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior, and suicidal patients

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric diagnoses, including trauma, cardiac, neurological, and psychiatric emergencies
• Work in a state-of-the-art ED featuring a centralized layout, advanced diagnostic technology, a dedicated pediatric ED, a crisis intervention unit, and a trauma suite near the ambulance entrance
• Facility is certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center and is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park
• Scrub attire must be any combination of navy blue and white
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility for RN consideration
• Returning staff must have at least a 6-month break system wide
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested time off will not be considered
