Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a renal-focused unit requiring an active SC or compact RN license and one year of relevant experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit with a focus on renal patient care
• 3x12 night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Patient ratios of 1:6-7
• Every other weekend required with holiday rotation
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating to other med/surg units as needed
• Charting completed in Epic

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or compact license in hand prior to start
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:6-7
• Skills in neurological/psychiatric care, CVA, gastrointestinal, and feeding tube management
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
• Skilled in respiratory care including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including starting and maintaining IVs
• Genitourinary/renal care experience, including renal failure management
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including use of rapid response/code teams
• SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a medical surgical unit with a focus on renal conditions
• Respond to rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free parking available on site
• During hurricane season (June-November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be considered, as locals are not accepted
• All requested time off must be submitted and approved prior to assignment confirmation
• Block scheduling requests may be submitted but are not guaranteed
