Unit Information

• Unit: A3 West Med Surg Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 38
• Staffing (Day Shift): 1 Charge RN, 6-7 RNs, 1 LPN, 3 PCTs, 1 Unit Secretary
• Staffing (Night Shift): 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 1 LPN, 2-3 PCTs, HUC part-time
• Patient Ratios:

  • Day: 6:1 (goal for charge nurse to assist)
  • Night: 7:1
• Equipment Used: Baxter IV pumps, Wound vacs, SCDS, prima-fits, primo-fits
• EMR System: Cerner Powerchart

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
• Medical-surgical nursing experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

Job Responsibilities & Skills

• Perform peripheral IV starts
• Dressing changes
• Other standard medical-surgical nursing skills
• Work as a team player with a positive attitude and willingness to help others proactively

Work Environment & Schedule

• Floating assignments to other medical-surgical units and ED holding medical/surgical patients
• Dress Code: Navy or white scrubs (all navy, all white, or white top with navy pants)
• Weekend shifts: Approximately 6 weekend shifts every 6-week schedule (about every other weekend)
• Travelers float before permanent staff
