Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric Emergency Department (PEDS ED)

Location: Washington, DC 20037
Contract Length: 13 weeks (High possibility of extension)
Shift: Nights | 3 x 12-hour shifts | 36 hours/week
Local Rule: Must live 50 miles from facility

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Emergency Department RN to deliver specialized, high-quality care to infants, children, and young adults presenting with urgent and emergent conditions. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care to pediatric patients

  • Perform rapid assessments and triage

  • Manage acute and critical conditions in a fast-paced ED setting

  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams

  • Deliver patient and family education and support

  • Maintain accurate documentation per hospital standards

  • Uphold Patient-Centered Care principles and Service Excellence standards

  • Provide professional leadership and collaborate with the healthcare team

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program

  • Active DC RN License (required)

  • Recent Pediatric Emergency or Pediatric acute care experience required

  • Minimum 1 year full-time or 3 years part-time acute care experience preferred

  • Ability to commit to long-term professional stability

Certifications (Required)

  • BLS

  • ACLS

  • PALS

  • TNCC

  • NIHSS

Skills

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergencies

  • Commitment to patient safety and quality care
