Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Position Overview:
The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse provides comprehensive care to adult patients in a 
post-surgical and general medical unit, focusing on recovery, monitoring, and patient 
education in an acute care setting.

Job duties:
• Provide direct patient care for post-surgical and medical patients 
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs 
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products as ordered 
• Manage and maintain IV lines, NG tubes, and feeding tubes 
• Monitor patient recovery and identify complications such as infection or postoperative issues 
• Assist with pain management and wound care 
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans 
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions 
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR system 
• Float to other units as required within scope of practice 
• Ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols 

Requirements:
Licensure: Active New York RN License
Experience: Minimum 2 years Medical Surgical experience with travel experience 
(Required)
Certifications: BLS (AHA)
Other requirement: Skills checklist required; valid driver's license; NURSYS verification; 
Epic experience required
