RN – ICU | Contract | Mount Sinai Hospital
Position Details
- Job Title: RN – ICU
- Facility: Mount Sinai Hospital
- Location: 1468 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10029
- Specialty: ICU / Neuro ICU
- Schedule: Nights 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Shift: 3×12 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Additional Requirement: 4th shift per month
- Shift Type: Variable
- Average Unit Census: 8 patients
- Staffing Ratio: 1 RN : 2 Patients
- EMR: Epic
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Minimum 2 years of Critical Care/ICU experience
- At least 2 years of Neuro ICU experience
- Neuro-surgical and/or Stroke experience required
- 1 year of travel nursing experience required for Travel positions
- Epic experience highly preferred
Experience with:
- EVD (External Ventricular Drain)
- Lumbar Drains
- IRRAflow EVD
- Raumedic
- Neuro-surgical patients
- Stroke patients
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Active New York State RN License
- BLS
- ACLS
Education
- BSN preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) may be considered with:
- Relevant nursing experience, and/or
- Active enrollment/matriculation in a BSN program
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, competent, evidence-based care to critically ill patients.
- Assess and continuously evaluate patient conditions and care needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
- Manage high-acuity ICU patients while applying critical-thinking skills.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Administer medications and perform advanced nursing interventions.
- Monitor and manage lines, drains, airways, and other critical-care equipment.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and transitions of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic.
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Perform charge nurse duties when assigned.
- Support patient throughput and efficient use of staffing, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain professional standards and contribute to ongoing clinical development.
