Job Title: RN – Telemetry
Facility: Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH)
Location: 1468 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10029
Shift: Days – 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
Schedule: 3×12-hour shifts; Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
Contract: 13 weeks
Start date: 09/28/2026
Job Summary
The Registered Professional Nurse provides safe, competent, and high-quality patient care based on nursing theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational standards. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered care using the nursing process and evidence-based practices.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs and apply critical-thinking skills to manage care.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Prioritize patient care, including education, rounding, discharge planning, and delegation.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, transitions of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Maintain effective and professional communication with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.
- Establish therapeutic relationships while demonstrating compassion, empathy, respect, and active listening.
- Perform purposeful hourly rounding and support a positive patient experience.
- Identify and escalate patient safety concerns, clinical risks, and barriers to quality care.
- Accurately document nursing care in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and patient safety initiatives.
- Facilitate patient throughput and effectively manage staffing, supplies, equipment, and other resources.
- Perform charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
- Maintain professional development and advance clinical competency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Active New York State RN License
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification – Required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry/Med-Surg experience
- Telemetry experience required
- Ventilator experience required
- Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience for travel positions
- EPIC experience highly preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and patient-management skills
Education
- BSN preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) may be considered with relevant experience and/or active enrollment in a BSN program.
Schedule Requirements
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
- Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
- 3×12-hour shifts
Note: BSN is preferred; ADN/ASN candidates may be considered if they meet the relevant experience and/or BSN matriculation requirements.
