Job Summary

Join an innovative pilot trial testing acute psychiatric care delivered in patients' homes through the Behavioral Health Home Hospital (BHH) program. This role offers an alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization by providing hospital-level psychiatric nursing care in the community.

As a BHH Research Psychiatry Nurse, you will:

  • Provide in-person nursing care twice daily to patients in their homes or current residence during hospitalization.
  • Manage up to 4 patients at a time.
  • Deliver hospital/inpatient-level psychological treatment in collaboration with a multidisciplinary psychiatric team.

  • Coordinate care with other clinical team members, including remote psychiatric providers and mental health specialists.
  • Support patients with active acute psychiatric conditions who have a caregiver present at home.
  • Participate in remote inpatient therapy groups and 24/7 clinical monitoring.

This position is ideal for nurses interested in temporary research roles that expand treatment options for psychiatric patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and implement psychiatric nursing treatment in the community.
  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, documenting clinical care and patient education.
  • Collaborate with the care team to establish and adjust patient schedules.
  • Use a Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths and needs.
  • Provide high-quality, regulatory-compliant nursing care and documentation.
  • Coordinate nursing care based on established clinical standards and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Required Credentials & Compliance (Summary)

  • Professional Licenses: Valid nursing license with primary source verification (no MA conditional licenses).
  • Photo ID: Recent professional photo (no selfies or filters).
  • Background Checks: Criminal background, MVR, CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender, and exclusion checks within required timeframes.
  • Health Requirements:
    • N95 Fit Test (within 1 year, updated annually).
    • TB test or equivalent within 3 months of start.
    • Immunizations: MMR, Influenza (seasonal), Hepatitis B (preferred), Tdap (preferred).
    • Health statement from a licensed provider within 1 year.
  • Documentation: Resume with 7 years of experience, 2 recent references (including at least 1 supervisor), skills checklist, candidate submission coversheet.
  • Additional: Respirator medical clearance attestation if applicable.

Additional Notes

  • Patients must have a caregiver present during home hospitalization.
  • Medication administration and 24/7 monitoring are part of the care model.
  • This role supports a research trial aimed at expanding psychiatric care options outside traditional inpatient settings.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge psychiatric care research while providing direct patient care in a home health setting.
