Pediatric Psychiatric RN (Psych) - Salem, Massachusetts

Unit & Patient Population

• Unit: Epstein 2 - Pediatric Psychiatry
• Patient Age Range: 3 to 17 years (children and adolescents)
• Patient Population: Inpatient program for children ages 4-18 requiring 24-hour care
• Bed Count: 30 beds
• Typical Census: 20-25 patients
• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 3 patients
• Environment: Nurturing, non-coercive child and adolescent behavioral health setting

Work Schedule & Requirements

• Shifts: Days, evenings, nights, and every other weekend (EOW)
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Floating: Required to float to other behavioral health areas within Epstein Units and AMHU
• Rotating Shifts: Up to 20% rotation for day positions; no rotation required for night positions

Experience & Skills

• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years at one hospital/location
• Skill Set:

  • Trauma-informed care
  • Patient-centered approach
  • Verbal de-escalation skills

Certifications & Licenses

• Required:

  • Current Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
  • BLS (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military; AHA preferred)
• Additional Required Credentials for Onboarding:

  • Fit Test (N95 respirator, within 1 year)
  • MGB Medication Exam (80% passing within 1 year)
  • MMR vaccination or immunity proof
  • Influenza vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
  • TB test (skin or blood test within 3 months)
  • Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA (within 1 year)
  • Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, national sex offender check, exclusion checks, and SSN trace
  • Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required)
  • Education verification
• Preferred but Optional:

  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years
