Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Labor and Delivery
- Start Date: ASAP
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in Labor and Delivery (L&D)
- First-timers: Considered based on experience
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Within Women’s and Infants units only; may occasionally float to Post-Partum/Ante-Partum areas
- Schedule: Open to block scheduling based on unit needs
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Required Certifications
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Intermediate Course
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience in Specialty: 2 years in Labor and Delivery
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Proof of I9 or Attestation
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
- Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check (all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
- Federal and international searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification (highest degree earned)
- State License Verification (Primary Source)
- NURSYS Verification (for all RNs)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam (within last 12 months)
- Immunizations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (TDAP)
- Measles (Rubeola) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Mumps - 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Rubella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B - vaccination series or positive titer (declinations accepted only under specific circumstances)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox
- Hepatitis A (required for Labor & Delivery staff)
- TB Testing:
- Negative QGOLD or T-Spot within 3 months or 2 PPDs (1 within 3 months, 2nd within last year)
- TB Questionnaire required
- Drug Testing:
- 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination (required October 1 - March 31) or approved exemption
- Fit Testing for respiratory protection
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (recent, plain background, shoulders up, no filters)
- References:
- 2 professional references within 2 years for travel positions
- Skills Checklist (updated annually)
- Completion of employment application/resume
- Performance and internal evaluations if previously employed with the system
Notes
- Locals accepted but Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions must be discussed during interview
- Floating is limited to Women’s and Infants units only
- Block scheduling may be accommodated based on unit needs
