Job Opportunity: RN ICU (MICU) - Salem, Massachusetts

Position Details

• Specialty: RN ICU (Medical Intensive Care Unit)
• Location: Salem, Massachusetts
• Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Rotating MICU RN Nights & Every Other Weekend (EOW), 36 hours per week

  • Night shift does not rotate
  • Day shifts rotate between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a when needed
• Unit: Level III Trauma Center, 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU (MICU)
• Patient Population: Adult patients with conditions such as Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, Cardiogenic Shock
• RN to Patient Ratio:

  • ICU: 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity
  • Floating to Med/Surg: 1:4 or 1:5

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 3+ years of general ICU experience required
• MICU Experience: At least 2+ years of continuous MICU experience preferred
• Additional: Must be able to read telemetry strips

Floating and Competencies

• Floating required, mostly to Medical/Surgical units (up to 4-5 patients)
• Telemetry competency required

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Active Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Other health and safety requirements include:

  • N95 Fit Test (within 365 days)
  • Influenza Vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
  • TB Test (within 3 months)
  • MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
  • Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA (within 365 days)
  • Criminal background checks and CORI (Massachusetts)
  • Other professional verifications and clearances as required

• EPIC

Additional Notes

• Must be able to float to Med/Surg units
• Rotating shifts required for day positions; night shift is fixed
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

This role is ideal for experienced ICU nurses with strong MICU skills, telemetry competency, and flexibility to float within a busy trauma center ICU setting.
