Description

Job Opportunity: RN - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Unit: D2, 2nd floor, Mission Main Campus
  • Beds: 20
  • Staff per shift:
    • Day: 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 2 CNAs
    • Night: 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 2 CNAs
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6 (stretch), depending on level of care
  • Patient Type: Inpatient overflow unit with mixed medical-surgical and step-down patients
  • Short stay patients (<24 hr length of stay) targeted to this unit
  • Quick turnover environment
  • Equipment: Telemetry (all telemetry patients hardwired to bedside monitors)
  • EMR System: Cerner

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience, including telemetry competency within the last year
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Skills & Experience

  • Must have:
    • Telemetry competency
    • Progressive Care experience
  • Preferred:
    • Recent progressive care experience

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Floating: Travelers required to float to other units as needed
  • Dress Code: Navy and/or white top, navy bottom, or all white scrubs
  • Schedule: Every other weekend required; no on-call required
  • Personality Fit: Positive attitude, patient experience focused, kind, compassionate, team player

Additional Notes

  • This is a travel assignment at a highly recognized hospital with Magnet® designation and multiple safety and quality awards.
  • The unit is fast-paced with a focus on short stay and mixed acuity patients.
