Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with Telemetry experience to work on a 5 West Medical unit. The unit has 36 beds and a staff of 50+ with day and night shifts. The environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and requires compassionate, hard-working individuals.
Unit Information
- Unit: 5 West Medicine
- Beds: 36
- Staffing (Day Shift): 1 charge nurse, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs, 1 HUC, 1-2 sitters
- Staffing (Night Shift): 1 charge nurse, 7 RNs, 3 CNAs, 0.5 HUC, 1-2 sitters
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Day: 1:5 or 1:6
- Night: 1:6 or 1:7
- Equipment: Medical remote telemetry monitoring, Cerner Patient Observation (CPO), VC150 devices in every patient room, workstations on wheels, Tap and Go computer access
- EMR System: Cerner
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Nurse (RN) License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) - encouraged but not required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as an RN in Telemetry or Med-Surg specialty
- Leadership or Charge Nurse experience preferred but not required
Job Duties & Skills
- Provide nursing care to telemetry patients
- Prepare patients for procedures such as Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology (IR), and Operating Room (OR)
- Utilize telemetry monitoring and electronic medical records for patient care documentation
- Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Maintain patient safety and quality care standards
Work Schedule & Additional Information
- Must sign up for 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Friday, Saturday, Sunday count as weekend shifts on night shift)
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs (top and bottom), white top with navy blue bottom, or all white
- Floating may be required to sister Med-Surg units (3W, 5W, K8)

- BSN degree
- Prior leadership or charge nurse experience

Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
