Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, every other weekend (EOW)
Unit: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Stepdown (23 beds total)
Patient Population: Post-operative patients from General, Gynecology, Vascular, Thoracic, Urology, Oral, Plastic, and Trauma surgeries
Patient Ratios:
- Med/Surg: 3-5 patients per RN
- Stepdown: 2-3 patients per RN
Job Description
- Provide telemetry nursing care on a surgical stepdown unit
- Must be able to read telemetry strips
- Manage chest tubes, nasogastric tubes (NGT), epidurals, and capnography
- Preferred skills: arterial line management and neo-synephrine management
- Floating required
- Rotating shifts required for day positions; night positions do not rotate
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

- Rotation for day shifts includes 7a-7p, 11a-11p, and 7p-7a; night shifts are fixed
- Floating between two med/surg units (15-bed and 8-bed surgical stepdown)
Summary
This is a night shift telemetry RN role on a surgical stepdown unit requiring strong telemetry monitoring skills, including reading telemetry strips and managing complex post-op patients. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, Massachusetts RN licensure, and current BLS and ACLS certifications. The assignment is for approximately 13 weeks with rotating shifts for day positions and fixed night shifts. Compliance with extensive credentialing, health, and background requirements is mandatory prior to start.
