Description
Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Night, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (9:00 PM – 7:00 AM, Monday-Thursday)
- Holiday: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Call-off Policy: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- No local candidates accepted
- First-time travelers accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Unit and Patient Population
- Level I Trauma Operating Room with 25 OR suites, 24/7 nursing coverage
- Patient population includes neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, and geriatrics
- Surgical specialties include general, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, oncology, robotic surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and sports medicine
- Special equipment used: ROSA, Si and Xi daVinci robots, Stealth, O-Arm, HIPEC
Required Documentation and Compliance
- Driver’s License/State ID with address within 100 miles of facility required within 48 hours of signing
- E-Verify or attestation required
- 7-year background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, required within 1 year of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit test for N95 masks within 1 year, updated annually (onsite fit testing available if needed)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Required immunizations or positive titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination documentation or signed declination form required during flu season
- Photo for badge (professional, plain background) required
- Completion of new hire paperwork and compliance checklists prior to start
- Review of contract staff orientation manual prior to start (not required for inpatient RNs)
- Two clinical references required
- Completed employment application/resume required
- Annual update of skills checklist required
Additional Notes
- Must submit all requests for time off (RTO) with application
- Candidates must comply with radius rule based on driver’s license address
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center with advanced specialty care and teaching hospital status
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with orthopedic and neurosurgery skills seeking a night shift travel contract in a high-acuity Level I trauma operating room setting.
