Description
Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Newark, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Weekend Schedule: Rotating every 5-6 weekends
On-call: Rotating every 5-6 nights
Travel Radius: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility (no local candidates)
First Time Travelers: Accepted with prior acute care hospital and circulating experience
Job Description
- Role: Operating Room RN Circulator
- Floating: Circulating required
- Charting system: Epic experience required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room Circulating experience, with recent experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background checks within 3 months of start date, including:
- 7-year criminal background check (felony checks)
- SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender registry
- Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated monthly)
- Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Primary source verification of New York RN license within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (or TB questionnaire as applicable)
- Immunizations or proof of immunity within 5 days of contract signing:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series completion, or declination)
- Varicella (titer, vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (if booked within 30 days)
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
Additional Requirements
- References: Two professional references within 3 years (required for direct hire candidates)
- Employment application and skills checklist (annual)
- Work history verification of at least two past employments (for direct hire candidates)
- Color blindness testing (one-time)
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as required by specialty/unit

- Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract.
- Rotating weekend and on-call schedules require flexibility.
- This position is not open to local candidates within a 75-mile radius.
