Description
Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location: Dickson, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- Unit: Women’s Services (LDRP, OBED, NICU, 1 OR suite)
- Beds: LDRP 9 beds, OBED 1 bed, NICU 4 beds
- Patient Ratios:
- Active labors, inductions, C-sections: 1:1
- Couplet care: 1:3
- Newborns: 1:1 until stable
- NICU intermediate care: 1:3 (minimum 2 NICU nurses present)
- Staffing: No techs or unit secretaries available
- Equipment: Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, PCA pumps
- Documentation Systems: Meditech and CPN
- Scheduling: Full-time, 3 shifts per week, rotating weekends and holidays; PRNs to complete staffing
- Floating Policy: Staff may be floated anywhere within the facility as needed; some cross-training between LDRP & NICU
- Patient Experience: Daily rounding on all patients, including safety rounding
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
- Experience working with Neonate patients
- Prior experience in Charge nurse roles
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Work Environment & Culture
- The unit has a highly experienced nursing team with many RNs having approximately 30 years of experience, serving as excellent resources and preceptors
- Several nurses have 7-10 years of experience, contributing to a competent and supportive team
- The unit operates as a cohesive team with a strong willingness to help each other
- Great opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care
Additional Information
- Dress Code: Pink and/or brown scrubs required per infant security policy
- Certifications and policies are maintained and accessible via Policy Stat
- The unit holds certifications including Joint Commission, Stroke Center, Level II Trauma, and Level II NICU
