CT Technologist Position - Pompton Plains, New Jersey

Job Summary

  • Perform CT scanning procedures with professionalism and service excellence.
  • Obtain and prepare necessary medical, surgical, and radiological supplies according to protocols.
  • Maintain sterility of field and instruments.
  • Prepare requisitions accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families before, during, and after procedures to reduce anxiety while maintaining privacy and dignity.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and patient privacy policies.
  • Verify patient identification according to policy.
  • Monitor patient condition before and after contrast injections; report any sudden changes to nursing staff and Radiologist.
  • Ensure availability of medical records, previous reports, labs, and patient history.
  • Initiate emergency response if complications arise.
  • Maintain adequate linen, contrast media, and biopsy/drainage supplies in scanning rooms.
  • Follow room assignments and assist in maintaining storeroom and inventory.
  • Participate in daily inventory, stocking, and cleaning of CT equipment and rooms.
  • Notify lead staff of expired or soon-to-expire equipment or medications.
  • Perform routine cleaning of CT gantry, table, and peripheral equipment after each use.

Additional Responsibilities (When Assigned as Point Staff)

  • Triage procedures according to daily schedule.
  • Coordinate emergency and unscheduled procedure requests promptly.
  • Assign staff to maintain efficient workflow and patient safety.
  • Communicate patient status with all relevant departments and floors.
  • Ensure immediate patient transport post-procedure.
  • Assist in routine procedures.
  • Assess patient ability to tolerate contrast; screen for allergies and medication incompatibilities.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work area.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to Coordinator or Lead.
  • Maintain QA/QC requirements per daily, monthly, and ACR specifications.
  • Recognize and report unusual equipment conditions.
  • Adhere to venipuncture and power injector protocols.
  • For urgent cases (e.g., Code Grey, Trauma), acquire, process, send, and verify images immediately per protocol.
  • Notify Radiologist of any unusual findings to ensure optimum patient care.
