Job Opportunity: CT Scan Technologist

Location: Holmdel, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 22 weeks


Job Summary

The CT Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures, producing sectional and 3D images for interpretation, and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex CT procedures using professional judgment.
  • Review and document patient clinical history for procedures.
  • Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires with patients/family.
  • Administer contrast media as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
  • Verify exam prescriptions and communicate with Radiologists/Physicians as needed.
  • Verify insurance authorization and coordinate exam modifications.
  • Obtain and schedule outside studies for Radiologist comparison.
  • Provide exam copies to patients and requesting parties.
  • Evaluate radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic value using PACS.
  • Gather relevant patient information to prepare scanning protocols and ensure patient safety.
  • Prepare patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization.
  • Determine appropriate contrast type and dose.
  • Explain procedures and address patient questions.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance per guidelines.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
  • Work scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends; overtime and on-call as needed.
  • Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push/pull 50 lbs., and stand for at least 6 hours daily.
  • Adapt care to meet diverse patient needs (age, culture, language, disabilities).

Required Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning.
  • Understanding of CT software and hardware mechanics.
  • Proficient with PACS system.
  • Maintain Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
  • ARRT (CT) certification required within 12 months of hire.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required.

Specialty Years of Experience:

  • Minimum 6 months CT experience preferred (no explicit required years stated, so 0.5 years preferred).

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Knowledge of Epic and HIS/RIS systems.
  • ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license preferred.
