Job Summary:
Applies the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner to maintain a sterile environment. Demonstrates competency in technical and psychomotor skills, provides age-specific care, and ensures a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and self. Assists in the organization and coordination of supplies and equipment, performs sterilization and disinfection, and participates in room turnover and setup. Applies principles of sterile technique during surgical procedures and assists with obtaining supplies, equipment, and patient positioning. Scrubbing duties include precepting medical students, residents, and other students.
Required Qualifications:
- 1+ years of surgical tech experience
- Ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures
- Problem-solving skills related to surgical procedures
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology
- Knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers
- Understanding of patient care concepts and perioperative teamwork
- Principles of sterile technique during surgical procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- CVOR experience required
- Trauma 1 experience preferred
- Comfortable with floating to other modalities when CV caseload is low
Required Education:
- Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology
- OR Certificate of completion of Surgical Technology program
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- IDPH Fingerprinting
