Job Summary:
The Mammographer I performs specialized breast imaging services on OU Health patients to aid Providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of breast conditions, defects, and/or diseases. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience as a Mammographer or experienced imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in Mammography. Work is typically performed in outpatient environments across OU Health locations.
Required Qualifications:
- Skill in applying principles of mammography and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, positioning of patients, and medical ethics.
- Foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic mammography principles and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, and medical terminology.
- Ability to apply core mammography theory, practice, and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post-processing analysis and documentation with general supervision or assistance.
- Clear and respectful verbal and written communication skills to exchange basic information with patients, families, and team members.
- Ability to prioritize and complete assigned clinical and non-clinical work tasks with guidance and direction, progressively developing independence in managing routine responsibilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in stressful situations with guidance and support, progressively developing effective coping and prioritization skills.
Required Education:
- Graduate of an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT.
- Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
- ARRT(RT)(M) required within 1 year of hire.
