Job Title: RN-PEDS

Location: Kern Medical Center, California

Job Summary: Under the supervision of a nurse leader, the RN-PEDS independently prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients. The role involves performing the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care. The scope of practice aligns with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and California Nurse Practice Act. The RN-PEDS creates a compassionate environment, collaborates with patients and healthcare teams, and ensures quality care through adherence to therapeutic standards and evidence-based practices.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience.
• Knowledge and experience with Cerner EMR.
• Valid and unrestricted State of California Registered Nurse License (RN License).
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) card.
• Compliance with all health requirements designated by Kern Medical Center.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program with a bachelor’s or associate degree.

Additional Information:

• Knowledge of advanced theory, techniques, and practices of nursing.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, instruments, and equipment.
• Understanding of the uses and effects of medicines and narcotics.
• Depending on assignment, incumbents may be required to possess and maintain specific certificates of competency as a condition of employment.
