Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director and/or the Operations Manager of Case Management, the RN performs utilization review and discharge planning for assigned patients. Responsibilities include analyzing medical records for medical necessity, level of care, and appropriate utilization of hospital services. The RN provides assistance to patients and their families in planning discharge and aftercare, assesses needs, identifies resources to support discharge requirements, and develops formal discharge plans.
Required Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of acute medical-surgical nursing experience.
- At least one (1) year of utilization review, case management, or discharge planning experience in an acute care hospital.
- Epic experience required: Minimum of six (6) to twelve (12) months within the past year.
- Endoscopy experience.
- Procedural sedation experience.
- Progressive care, critical care, and/or ER experience.
- Airway management.
- EKG interpretation.
- Moderate sedation.
- Knowledge of sedatives and reversal medication.
- Phase II recoveries.
- Flexible with unit needs.
- Recent charge nurse experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Open to floating within cluster/similar department.
Required Education:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- CA RN License.
- BLS.
- ACLS.
Unit Details:
- 3 recovery bays.
- 2 procedure rooms plus travel to ICU, DI, OR, etc.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3.
