Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Pediatric PACU – Portland, OR 97225

Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: Portland, Oregon metropolitan area

Schedule: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:00). Patient ratios of 1:1. Weekends not required. No on-call required. Approximately 12 patient visits per day in a 15-bed unit.

Highlights:

• Stand-alone pediatric surgery department in an acute care setting with 536 total beds
• Work with diverse pediatric patient populations including neonates, infants, children, and adolescents across multiple surgical specialties
• Provide pre-operative, Phase I PACU, and Phase II post-operative care for primarily outpatient procedures, including some inpatient, PICU, and NICU cases
• Surgical specialties include orthopedics, general surgery, ENT, urology, plastics, dental, oral maxillofacial, endoscopy, and ophthalmology
• Teaching hospital environment with Epic charting system and comprehensive interdisciplinary support services
• 91-day assignment with 30-40 hours of orientation

Requirements:

• Active Oregon or Compact RN license (Compact license must be in hand at submission)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (required)
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric PACU or pediatric nursing experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with 1:2 patient ratios
• Skills in dysrhythmia recognition, conscious sedation, pain management, RASS scale, and various anesthesia types (general, local, MAC, nerve blocks)
• Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia protocol and reversal agents
• Must have reliable vehicle for transportation
• Two professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
• Willingness to float to other units and regional facilities based on operational needs
