CT Technologist Duties and Responsibilities:

• Confirm patient identity and exam verification prior to initiating the scan, strictly adhering to department policy and procedure for patient safety.
• Coordinate with physicians to provide diagnostic imaging.
• Prepare patients for scans and explain the procedure to help them feel comfortable.
• Insert IVs when necessary for the test.
• Position patients accordingly, which may include lifting or moving patients with limited mobility; must utilize safe patient handling.
• Maintain accurate patient record keeping by properly documenting all necessary components within EPIC, including identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly upon exam completion.
• Maintain a clean and safe scanning facility.

Requirements:

• Healthcare professionals registered in NYS are required to have injection therapy certification stated on their license.
• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology and maintains Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• NYS licensure.
• Two years of experience.
• Level 1 Trauma Center experience.
• BLS (American Heart Association only).

Preferred:

• Injection certification preferred; must be willing to complete during orientation process.
• Knowledge of Philips and Siemens equipment preferred.

Behavior Characteristics:

• Level I Trauma Experience: Required, 2 years.
• CT Tech License (NY Only): Required.
• BLS (American Heart Association Only): Required.
• Two years of experience: Required, 2 years.
• Siemens Scanner Experience: Required, 6 months.
• Epic Experience: Highly desired, 1 year.
