Job Opportunity – NICU Registered Nurse (Level IV) – Wisconsin

Start Date: September 14, 2026

Location: Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Friday through Sunday (7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am), day/night rotation. 4-6 weekend shifts per contract based on unit needs.

Highlights:

  • 26-bed Level IV NICU within a comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center
  • Care for the highest acuity neonates including post-operative cardiac, abdominal, and thoracic surgery patients
  • Advanced technology including ventilators with NAVA capability, whole body cooling (Arctic Sun), and multiple modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation
  • Patient-and family-centered care model in a Magnet-designated facility
  • Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided
  • Float opportunities to other pediatric units for patients less than 12 months of age, including PICU

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (Wisconsin or compact state)
  • Minimum 2 years total NICU Level III/IV experience, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU required (hard stop requirement)
  • BLS and NRP certifications (AHA only) - PALS preferred
  • Travel nursing experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Demonstrated competency with post-operative patients, g-tubes, trach/vent management, and various modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation
  • Experience with arterial lines, central lines, UAC/UVC, high-frequency ventilation, therapeutic hypothermia, and complex neonatal diagnoses
  • Must pass telemetry exam with strict criteria (80% passing score, 100% identification of lethal rhythms)
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from facility

Clinical Experience Required:

  • Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome and Neonatal Sepsis management
  • Post-cardiac and post-abdominal surgery care
  • Ventilator management across multiple modalities (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
  • High-frequency ventilation and oscillators
  • Administration of surfactants, steroids, and IV vasopressors
  • Care of neonates with congenital heart disease, neurologic disorders, and metabolic/genetic conditions
  • Tracheostomy care and management
  • Developmental care and breastfeeding support

Unit Details:

  • Daily census: 17 patients in a 26-bed unit
  • Patient population: Critically ill neonates requiring advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services
  • Common diagnoses include premature infants, congenital heart disease, brain injury/stroke, seizure disorders, and surgical complexities
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and interpretation services
  • Two pre-approved time-off periods available
