Description
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am), Monday through Friday with every other weekend required. Day and night shifts available.
Highlights:
- Mixed acuity pediatric unit combining general medical-surgical and intermediate step-down care
- Complex patient population including neurology, diabetic, nephrology, spinal fusion, and respiratory patients
- Experience with tracheostomy, ventilator management, CPAP, and BiPAP required
- Epic charting system utilized; telemetry monitoring on unit
- 36-hour orientation provided; float to other units as needed
- Magnet-designated facility with Level One Pediatric Trauma Center
Requirements:
- Active RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Pediatric Medical-Surgical experience in acute care setting within the last 3 years
- BLS and PALS certifications required (American Heart Association only)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with 3:1 patient ratio preferred
- Must pass telemetry examination prior to start date with strict passing criteria (80% minimum score; 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms)
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
Patient Population & Skills:
- Pediatric patients including infants, children, and adolescents with diverse diagnoses
- Pulmonary conditions including respiratory failure requiring ventilator support and tracheostomy care
- Neurological patients including seizure disorders and those requiring video EEG monitoring
- Diabetic patients including diabetic ketoacidosis and new onset diabetes management
- Nephrology patients including kidney transplant recipients
- Post-surgical patients including spinal fusion recovery
- Proficiency required in telemetry interpretation, central line management, chest tube care, insulin administration, wound care, and pediatric early warning scoring
Vaccination Requirements:
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- COVID-19 vaccine not required
