Overview

• Travel/Contract RN role in Medical Telemetry
• 13-week assignment
• Night shift: 3x12, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Every other weekend rotation
• Blocked scheduling may be discussed
• No locals within a 60-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit Details

• Medical Telemetry unit
• Cardiac monitoring
• Hemodynamically stable dysrhythmia patients
• Strong suspicion of non-STEMI or unstable coronary syndrome with resolved chest pain and no hemodynamic instability or life-threatening arrhythmias
• Pre- and post-operative patients needing telemetry and closer cardiac observation, but not ICU-level care
• Infectious disease patients requiring negative air flow isolation room 213
• STEMI patients after 12–24 hours of ICU monitoring and stability
• Post-PTCA patients without STEMI, hemodynamic instability, or life-threatening arrhythmias
• Suspected pacemaker malfunction
• Observation after pacer, defibrillator placement, or ablation
• Patients transferred from ICU or Stepdown must be stable for at least 4 hours without pharmacologic hemodynamic intervention
• ED patients with prior hemodynamic instability must be stable in the ED for at least 1 hour without pharmacologic hemodynamic intervention

Treatments and Procedures

• Routine finger stick blood sugar
• Stable cardiac or vasoactive drips/IV meds, including Diltiazem drip/IVP and Metoprolol, with titration for no more than 90 minutes to stabilize the patient
• Two or more blood transfusions in a 12-hour period
• Three or more fluid boluses in a 12-hour period to maintain adequate blood pressure
• Physician-performed procedures may include thoracentesis, paracentesis, central line insertion, bone marrow aspiration, and chest tube insertion
