This travel Occupational Therapist opportunity is based in the East Aurora area of Illinois, a friendly and diverse suburban community in the greater Chicagoland region. The area offers a comfortable balance of residential neighborhoods, local parks, and easy access to the cultural, dining, and entertainment options of a major metropolitan area. Nearby, you can enjoy riverfront trails, community recreation programs, local restaurants, and quick access to shopping and services. Living and working in this region provides a convenient base for exploring Chicago’s museums, theaters, sports, and lakefront while still enjoying a more relaxed suburban lifestyle. This position is a full-time school-based travel role in a K–8 educational setting. The Occupational Therapist will serve students in general education and special education, with particular focus on school-aged children who receive services through self-contained and resource classrooms. The schedule is designed around a standard school day with approximately 37.5 hours per week and a typical 7.5-hour workday, allowing a predictable routine and evenings free. You will be responsible for providing direct and consultative OT services to students with a variety of needs, including fine motor, visual-motor integration, handwriting, sensory processing, self-regulation, and functional school participation skills. The role also includes evaluation and re-evaluation, development of IEP goals, regular progress monitoring, and integrating OT recommendations into classroom routines to support student success. On a typical day, you can expect to split your time between direct treatment sessions, in-class support as needed, consultation with teachers and paraprofessionals, documentation, and participation in student-focused meetings. Services may be provided individually or in small groups, depending on student needs and IEP mandates. Caseload will span multiple grade levels from kindergarten through middle school, offering exposure to a wide range of developmental stages and clinical presentations. The school environment is team-oriented and collaborative, with opportunities to work closely with special education teachers, general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families. You will have the chance to contribute to multi-tiered systems of support, participate in IEP meetings, and help shape functional, school-relevant goals that truly impact students’ daily lives. Required Qualifications
Occupational Therapist, School

Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
Active Occupational Therapy (OT) license in IL


Preferred Qualifications
Initial certification through NBCOT
Clear, articulate communication skills
Ability to explain results to a varied audience
Candidates with previous school experience a plus!
Completion of a criminal record and background check
