This Physical Therapist opportunity is based in Arlington, Virginia, a dynamic and highly desirable urban community just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. The position is in a Skilled Nursing Facility that cares primarily for adult and geriatric patients requiring rehabilitation, post-acute, and long-term care services. Physical Therapists work alongside occupational therapists, speech therapists, nursing staff, and medical providers in a collaborative setting that supports evidence-based practice and consistent communication about patient progress. In this role, the Physical Therapist will perform comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide ongoing therapeutic interventions for residents who may be recovering from orthopedic procedures, neurological events, or complex medical conditions. Typical responsibilities include gait and balance training, strength and endurance programs, transfer and mobility training, fall prevention strategies, and patient and caregiver education. Accurate and timely documentation within the facility’s electronic medical record system is an integral part of the daily workflow, including treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries that align with regulatory and payer requirements. The caseload will primarily consist of older adults in a SNF setting, with patient volumes based on census and acuity. Therapists can expect a structured day shift schedule of five eight-hour days per week, totaling approximately 40 hours, which allows for a predictable routine and the opportunity to enjoy Arlington’s amenities outside of work. While exact patient ratios and bed counts may vary with census and operational needs, the therapy department is designed to maintain safe and manageable workloads and to foster supportive collaboration between team members. A typical day may include morning evaluations for new admissions, followed by scheduled one-on-one therapy sessions, participation in interdisciplinary team meetings, and coordination with nursing regarding mobility and safety plans. The therapist will contribute to care planning and may participate in family meetings or education sessions to ensure continuity of care and realistic, patient-centered goals.
