Description
Job Description
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for reviewing patient history and physician's orders, educating patients about procedures and imaging to ensure understanding and cooperation. The technologist will position patients and perform imaging procedures while ensuring proper techniques are utilized based on the patient's age and ability to comprehend the procedure. This role requires attention to ensure high-quality imaging results are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient information, including history and physician orders.
- Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure cooperation.
- Position patients and execute imaging procedures with attention to patient capability.
- Analyze imaging results and address any quality issues by repositioning patients as necessary.
- Enter, transmit, and report scan results per established protocols.
- Order, prepare, administer, store, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals according to regulations.
- Continually monitor patient conditions and respond to changes appropriately.
- Maintain appropriate supply inventory in Clinical Nuclear Medicine rooms.
Job Requirements
- CT certification and experience with PET/CT imaging.
- ARRT CT certification or Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification (CNMT) by NMTCB.
- Registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) with Nuclear Medicine certification (NM) by ARRT.
- Current New York State (NYS) license.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in nuclear medicine.
- Preferred knowledge of GE PET or Philips PET scanners, though not required.
