Description
Job Overview
The CT Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging exams, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout the process. This position requires a combination of technical skills, patient care, and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Confirm patient identity and exam verification prior to initiating scans, adhering to department policies for safety.
- Coordinate with physicians to provide necessary diagnostic imaging.
- Prepare patients for scans by explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
- Insert IVs when required for testing.
- Position patients appropriately for exams, utilizing safe patient handling techniques, particularly with patients of limited mobility.
- Maintain accurate patient records by documenting all necessary components within the EPIC system, ensuring images are properly identified and sent to the PACS system upon completion of the exam.
- Ensure a clean and safe scanning environment.
Qualifications
- Current registration as an HCP in New York State, including required injection therapy certification at the time of submission.
- Completion of formal training from an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- New York State licensure, obtained prior to starting the position.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
- Injection certification is preferred; willingness to complete during orientation process is necessary.
- Familiarity with Philips and Siemens imaging equipment is a plus.
