General Information

• Number of Beds: 40
• Staffing:
  • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), 1 Unit Secretary
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 3 PCTs
• Patient Ratios: 1:4, stretch staffing at 1:5 ratio
• Patient Type: Patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Myocardial Infarction (MI), Chest Pain (CP), arrhythmia, Pulmonary Hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), post cardiac cath/stent, post pacemaker/ICD/ablation.
• Equipment: Zoll, Baxter pump, lift equipment, bladder scanner
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner

Qualifications

• Required Skills:
  • Stepdown or progressive care experience
  • Telemetry experience
  • Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, bumetanide/Lasix, etc.
• Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
  • Relief charge experience
• Typical Procedures:
  • Bedside Cardioversion

Certification Requirements

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Floating Areas

All MedSurg units, Stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding.

Dress Code

All white or all navy blue scrubs, or a white top with navy blue pants.

Additional Information

Every other weekend required.
