Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor and Delivery team. This role requires a strong background in labor and delivery nursing, with responsibilities that include caring for mothers during labor and delivery, as well as managing newborn care.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds:
  • LDRP: 9 beds
  • OBED: 1 bed
  • NICU: 4 beds
  • Operating Room Suite: 1
• Patient Ratios:
  • 1:1 for active labors, inductions, C-sections
  • 1:3 for couplet care
  • 1:1 for newborns until stable
  • NICU: 1:3 for intermediate care with a requirement of two NICU nurses in the unit if needed
• Staffing: No unit secretaries or techs are available.
• Available Equipment: CPN Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robots for neonatologists, bili-blankets, PCA pumps.
• Documentation System: Meditech and CPN.
• Floating Policy: Staff may be required to float to other areas within the facility as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:

• Experience in labor and delivery, including managing labor and recovery for mothers.
• Ability to conduct assessments and transition newborns effectively.
• Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other OB emergencies is preferred.
• Education in fetal monitoring and experience with inductions (Pitocin, cervidil).
• Certifications: BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring training are required.

Work Environment

This unit is supported by a team of seasoned professionals, with each member bringing an average of 30 years of nursing experience. The collaborative environment ensures that staff members are equipped to mentor and assist one another, making it an excellent opportunity for career growth.

Schedule Requirements

Full-time commitment is required, including three shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays. PRN staff will be utilized to maintain adequate coverage.
