Description
Unit Information
The position is based in a 36-bed medical telemetry unit.
- Location: Asheville, NC
- Staff: 50+ personnel
- Day Shift Staffing: 1 charge nurse, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs, 1 Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), and 1-2 sitters
- Night Shift Staffing: 1 charge nurse, 7 RNs, 3 CNAs, 0.5 HUC, and 1-2 sitters
Current Patient Ratios:
- Day Shift RN: 1:5/6
- Night Shift RN: 1:6/7
Equipment and Technology:
- Medical remote telemetry monitoring
- Cerner Patient Observation (CPO)
- VC150 monitors in every patient room
- Workstations on wheels for all staff
- Tap and Go for computer/documentation access
Qualifications
Required Skills: Candidates must possess the following:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience in Medical Telemetry
Preferred Skills: Candidates with the following qualifications will be prioritized:
- Leadership experience
- Charge Nurse experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Responsibilities
While specific procedures are not performed on the unit, responsibilities include preparing patients for various procedures such as Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology (IR), and Operating Room (OR) visits.

Floating Areas
Candidates may float to Med-Surge units: 3W, 5W, K8 (sister units).
Dress Code
Preferred attire includes:
- Navy blue top and bottom
- White top and navy blue bottom
- All-white scrubs are also acceptable
Weekend Commitment
Candidates are required to sign up for 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, with weekends covering Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on night shifts.
Experience Requirement
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
